Did you want to test your characters? Do you want something that you can use for an RP sample without digging up an old thread? Well, here you have it. Pick one or multiple prompts below or, if you want, make a prompt of your own. Just be sure to tag around so that everyone gets plenty of exposure.

1: Explosions in space! Space Bandits attacked the space colony everyone was visiting! Dozens of fighters and mobile armors fly through space, locked in deadly combat. Are you among those battling to save lives? Or are you watching from the windows, praying everything will be safe?

2: Explosions underground! You were part of a trading party, exchanging supplies with an underground penal colony when alien animals burrowed through the walls and started assaulting convict and Confederation member alike! What are you going to do?

3: Explosions over the city! The Colosseum is shooting off fireworks as part of a concert or a sporting event! Are you watching in the crowd, a main attraction, or watching the bright colors from the city?

4: Explosions on an asteroid! You're either observing, guarding, or mining an asteroid! It's rather dull, save for the explosions that rock the ground under your feet. It looks like it'll continue to be just as slow, but... was that something moving in the shadows there?

5: Explosions on a space station! As you approached a research station, you receive a distress signal! Fire's broken out and their systems aren't up to spec! Can you do anything? Are you a part of a scouting crew or out for a joyride in your new yacht? And is this an accident, or something more sinister?

6: Explosions at the gym! Explosive competition! Swimming, weightlifting, running, boxing, someone has just challenged you! Whether they know it or not, you're going to do your best to show them up.

7: Explosions in the past! A star has died! The Fleet is flying through the nebula it left behind, with swirls of beauty as far as the eye can see. If you're the type, you can watch it all you like.

8: Explosions on the road! Most of the traffic on the Teuberg is computer controlled, but some young showoff took his off the grid and promptly caused a wreck! Traffic has been backed up for almost half an hour now, with no way out for you and the people in your vehicle. Are you close enough to see if anyone needs help? Or are you just stuck with people who are as late for their appointments as you are?

9: Explosions in the marketplace! Explosive bargains! You're in a trading hub, surrounded by stalls of all kinds selling every type of merchandise you can imagine! Luckily, you've got enough money to handle a few purchases here. Will you buy one of those daggers on display? An incense burner? Some alien fruit? Or maybe you're on the run from the corrupt guards? Or perhaps you're the one doing the chasing, did someone just steal your wallet?

10: Explosions in your mind! The explosive inspiration that drives this world! Make up your own prompt!

# 7
[ It never quite seems to get old for the Doctor. Especially when he knows for a fact that he hasn't ever seen this particular star quite like this. Alternate universes and all that.

But, no matter how beautiful it is, the Doctor has other plans in mind. Massive plans. Plans that are so great that...

...That they get away from him. Well. Never mind that. No. What the Doctor would like to do is go off and witness the birth of this star (and, if the mood suits him, maybe a few other phases in between).

All he needs is someone to join him. ]

# 9
[ Ah, the market. The Doctor could already tell just how fond of this place he was going to be.

Mind you, he'd never actually been to this market before, and at quite a few other markets, he'd manage to find himself in a few spots of trouble, but that was hardly important. And, he'd been quite a different man when all of that had happened.

Mostly.

No, back to the task at hand. The Doctor is currently taking a look at a very fascinating variety of fruit that he's quite sure he hasn't seen before.

...No one's going to mind if he licks it, are they? ]

(2) [There's no time for her face to be burning with the shame of wielding a sword in public, but, well, her ears still feel hot. Elizabeth is uncomfortable with herself, even if she isn't hindered by her frilly dress and fancy shoes. Still, it's more important that people not be - eaten, or - whatever these startling things may do - and she doesn't want to kill anything, but she's very good at vaulting around and doing so when it's necessary. Maybe she's just saved you from an attack, or maybe she's about to be surprised from behind herself, but don't underestimate her bouncing curls and darling little self.]

(6) [Here is a slender fencer, whipping about a slender foil. Decked out in a white uniform from head to toe, the little fencer seems pristine, and the fluidity of their movements is telling: they've been doing this for some time. The helmet, though, conceal the fencer's face and hair — actually, although Elizabeth is intent on keeping in shape, she's embarrassed by the idea of practicing out in the open where she can be seen, so the helmet is really a blessing.

Ah! A cartwheel. Seems like this fencer is interested in gymnastics as much as swordplay.]

(8) [Ah, the young girl with the wicker shopping basket and her hands clasped at her chest is giving the most yearning sighs. Before her, on a stand for display, is a pair of very cute shoes. They have a modest heel and very sweet little ribbons.] Ohh... Ohhhhh... I wonder if I could manage - well, well it shouldn't hurt to get them, I... Ohhhh...

[Though, she seems to have two shoe boxes in her basket already. One may wonder how much she actually spends on food.]

2. Explosions Underground!

What the hell!?

[This was supposed to be routine supply drop, but its gone completely sideways. Rhodey isn't sure what these animals are, but they're making a mess of the situation. He starts laying down covering fire, hoping to drive those things off when his sensors pick up something.]

Shit, they're going after the supplies! [Which, if they don't get those back to the fleet, it'll be a huge problem. Its taking the shoulder-mounted Gatling gun just the the latest ones that burrowed out of the wall out of the way. With limited options, he turns his head towards one of his team members for this mission.] We need to protect those crates! Can you get to them?

10. Explosions In Your Mind!

Okay, so if I just connect this wire here to this, it should... [--create a small electrical explosion, which sends a few sparks flying through the air, and Rhodey reeling back, away from the rather badly damaged Iron Patriot armor.]

Dammit!

[Frustrated, he lets out an annoyed grunt, and slams his tools down on the table. while he was decent enough to do regular maintenance on the armor, these kinds of repairs were really Tony's territory. In an effort to calm himself, he takes a step back, and tries to figure out what to do. Unfortunately, he comes up with nada, except to turn to the nearest person and ask for help.] I don't suppose you could give me a hand with this?

[Riddhe is in the middle of the fray, streaking through the battlefield in the Delta Plus. Unfortunately for him, he has someone on his tail right now, and is taking a couple of hits from a beam gun.

He manages to roll out of the way of an oncoming missile, but still finds his pursuer on his tail.]

Damn! I can't shake this guy!

[Maybe you could help him out a bit?]

3.

[The concert had been a blast, and the fireworks show that's going on right now is just icing on the cake. A great way to cap a night out with a few new friends.]

(3)

[We just cancelled another apocalypse, and the skies are lit up with fireworks in celebration. There's partying everywhere in the city, though Pentecost himself isn't taking part in it. He's still at the command center on the ground, barking a few orders, and making sure that everything gets wrapped up.

Maybe you should try to convince him to take a break, now that the threat is well and truly over.]

[ooc: Open! if you have an idea for a scene or something, set up your own prompt]

Joan Watson | Elementary

[personal profile] strangestways 2014-01-16 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
[3]

[Joan is attending a performance at the Colosseum which has just finished. She's so intent, curious to learn as much as she can about everything, which is why she tries to attend any events that may be happening. The fireworks are something she's very familiar with, however, leaning back in her seat as she lifts her gaze up to the skies. She feels this sharp pang in her chest, aching there at how familiar something can be when she is so far from home. Her voice is soft, almost wistful when she speaks.]

... at least some things don't change.

[8]

[After medical school, Joan never thought she'd be attending any type of schooling again, but being suddenly transported to some place in space, it changes things. She's not exactly young, but she's back in school again, trying to learn all she can about the life she's now a part of... and trying to become someone else. From surgeon to sober companion to consultant to... student again. She shares that car ride with others looking to educate themselves as well, but they're currently stalled out on the road in the middle of a traffic jam which isn't exactly as common here as they were in New York City. There are many reasons why she never had a car in that city.

It's been long enough now that Joan finally steps out of the vehicle into the street, frowning at the traffic jam ahead as she rests her elbow on the outside of the vehicle.]

...I guess some things don't change.

[Shader, with her scrawny muscles and lack of strength, isn't really the mining type. But that doesn't prevent her from being useful! She's spent the last several hours repairing some mining equipment for the workers as they mine the asteroid.

She's currently working on fixing a large drilling machine that won't start for some unknowable reason. Up until a few minutes ago someone would struggle to catch her attention--she always gets lost in her own little world while she's working--but her attention is drawn away from her work when she realizes she's missing one of her tools.

She frowns and looks over her shoulder, getting the attention of the closest person.]

Hey! You haven't seen a screwdriver laying around anywhere, have you? It seems to have sprouted legs and wandered off somewhere...

#10
[Someone gets REALLY excitable and talkative when she's drunk. She's sloshing around some strange, glowing drink in a glass, her face flushed, and talking so loud that she's probably embarrassing everyone around her.]

I mean, Viede's quiet, but he's a REAL sweetie, really. He's always loaning his books to Joshua and doting on him. It's so cute! You'd think a guy that big and muscly would have a bigger temper but Genai's temper is WAY worse, and he's really shrimpy next to Viede! It's hilarious! But whenever I point it out Genai just gets grumpy again. Someone should really take that guy out for a drink so he can loosen up a little.

dhianeila: (across the universe)

Dhianeila Y Leisha Altoria Ol Yunos | Heroic Age

[personal profile] dhianeila 2014-01-16 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
Prompt 3:
Fireworks were beautiful, and reminded Dhianeila of the stars that dotted the universe. Bright, burning and beautiful when they're born, but eventually fizzling away. Shows like this drew crowds, however, so anybody could run into Dhianeila in any of the following ways:

- Among the watching crowd itself, though her presence there would be via her spiritual projection due to the number of people. While noticeably different due to her projection emitting a soft glow around her form, she otherwise looks no different.

- You might also run into her physical form in the more secluded area she discovered for herself. Sitting comfortably on a patch of grass, she stared up at the sky as the fireworks boomed. If you run into her this way, however, you'll be in for a bit of a warning before you wander too close.

Prompt 5:
"We absolutely must lend them our aid," Dhianeila had pressed when they received the distress call, which was why she was currently just outside of the space station via projection. While she couldn't do what the brave soldiers and other ship workers who had gone in to help could, she could help in her own way with her own powers. So as the rest of the crew made their way through the burning space station, she spoke, arms stretched out and eyes closed, focusing on where those who needed more immediate aid were.

"I sense a presence near you," she called out to one of her own crew. "Please keep moving forward, but be careful. You are almost to them."

5. FIRE FIRE

[The distress signal as the shuttle approached was real enough. Rosette didn't understand a single word on the highly technical read out... but the urgency in the people around her told her everything she needed to know.]

Here. Turn that thing onto manual and give it to me. I have an idea.

9. Marketplace

[The open hub is full of people and creatures of all shapes and sizes. Rosette had spent nearly an hour drifting through the crowd just staring openly at all of the strange costumes, alien features as if she really couldn't believe it was real.

But lets be real, you find her in the middle of a commotion. A weaponer leans back away from the nun in his booth. She had slammed both hands down on the counter and leaning over it with desperate excitement.]

Nngh! Damn it!

[She's only been here a week tops and already she's out here trying to plug up holes in this colony's defense after Space Bandits pop up out of nowhere. Frankly settled in the cockpit of this machine that definitely isn't an AS has her feeling like the green rookie she hasn't come close to feeling like in years.

She's had a brief crash course in how it works and now she's putting her all into it. At least she was decent at close quarters combat and the machine made it even easier to pull off those kind of maneuvers.

She shakes off the one that slammed into her moments ago and with a heavy sigh, she taps through her communicator to the others both in and out of field.]

I'm going to need more backup on the left wing side here. Wherever they're coming from, they're pretty desperate to break through our line over here.

#6
[So, you've challenged Melissa to... something. She's never one to back down so tada, here she is, cracking her knuckles and giving you this grin like she's totally self-assured she knows what she's going.]

You can go ahead and go now, if you want. You're not winning anyhow.

Puru Two | Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ

[personal profile] donttouchthequbeley 2014-01-17 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
1.
Idiots.

[Puru Two hated everything this world had to offer already. Controlling the Quin Mantha solo was annoying, yet manageable. But to actually be using it once more angered her, if only because she didn't want to be involved with her current prey. Just as she was hoping to get her mind off of things in this world, they decided to attack. Idiots thought the machine would be a slow, easy target.

Of course, they failed to account for two things: the pilot made for war, and the weapons on this machine as well. In fact, the bandits seemed to be evading the funnels that were chasing them. The mobile suit had barely been moving, arm raised occasionally to cut open a flying mobile armor or suit.]

Amateurs, all of them. [She barely even had to do anything, some of their shots unable to pierce the armor of the giant mobile suit.] Just give up and--

[The Quin Mantha suddenly moved, narrowly dodging a fighter that tried to crash into her. Three blasts emerged from the head of the machine, destroying it just as it passed the mecha. So now suicide techniques?]

...I wasn't the one to force you to die riding pieces of junk.

9.

Just sell me the component already!

[She hated talking to these people bad enough. But being refused to get something she desired simply because of her age? Needless to say, she was angry. When the vendor told her again to bring her parents, she growled, several funnels emerging from behind her. Unlike the mobile suit she had, these funnels could be used on the ground.]

I don't have time to play your stupid games, so just give that to me already! I can handle that thing far better than some of the eggheads here!

[May or may not be [community profile] distantskies CRAU. If he is, his dæmon is small and not really visible. Either way, Luke is a Jedi Master in his thirties with a usual air of compassion and slight melancholy.]

[Explosions(?) in the marketplace! There is a cart of angular melons being sold by a group of small, extremely pushy beings determined to make sales. To them, holding one's palms out in an "I don't want this" gesture means "I may buy if the price is lower". They are accosting, even following, anyone who so much as glances their way.]

No, thank you. I'm sure it's very delicious, but I don't want one.

[Explosions in the past! Luke's just about pressed against the viewport, staring, not actually oblivious to everything else.]

aaah, look at that. Hey, hey, see? There's a disturbance where some other ship came through here...

[Explosions in virtual space! Somewhere, there are ship-flying simulators, and so somewhere, there is Luke playing one like a videogame, intent on the screen or holo or what have you. He's piloting a simulation of a small craft skimming the surface of a world with orange-streaked sky, leaning into the turns, until a gust of simulated wind catches the craft and it explodes against a stone pillar. Luke gapes in outrage.]

Come on! That would never happen in the real world! Ugh, just because it's in atmo doesn't mean every puff of wind throws it around! It has mass! I wasn't going fast enough to just heel over!

This delay is intolerable! My schedule is crowded enough without time wasted in a que! Fine. Observe me as I fly above and ignore this entirely!

[he does have wings, but nothing with a tail that splendid flies great. Instead it appears he's building a jetpack.]

[Fireworks! Some of these are his doing, particularly the ones that involve small lasers shot up at particular fireworks, somehow creating a brief three-dimensional firey etching of, yes, Tohri.]

[El-Fenrir's engines roaring around him, Citan drives his sword into the enemy mecha, twists the blade, and slices it clean in two. A smile sits squarely on his face: at last, he's satisfied that he has become accustomed to battle in zero gravity. Having been land-bound his entire life, or something close enough to it, learning to fight where there is no up or down, and momentum works so much differently, and where there is no sound, it's not the easiest thing he's ever done. It was necessary that he learn, however, as the odds his new home faces in this troublesome region of space make it clear that anyone that can fight, must.

But enough waxing philosophical. A fresh wave of the enemy approaching his gear and the small band of his fellows facing them necessitates all of his attention, and he alters El-Fenrir's course to meet them head-on.]

Five targets incoming. I'll take the leftmost duo, if no one minds.

[6]
[Breaking a promise is not something Citan does lightly, but that cat's out of the bag, and living dangerous like he is, he sees no reason not to keep sharp on his swordsmanship. Wielding a shinai (because a doctor, of all people, should know not to play with live steel in a gym shared with other people doing other things), he moves through sword forms in graceful, well-practiced motions, not showing so much as a hint that he went half a decade without ever picking up a blade. Muscle memory is handy like that.]

[10]
[Citan's a doctor, martial artist, swordsman, mecha pilot, and amateur mechanist. Dude's interested in everything, and he'll probably poke his nose in any situation he can.]

[If there's one thing Starfleet's always been good at, it's finding room for a lounge with a good view. Well, observation lounge or not, Janeway's finding a viewport, because it's only so often you get to see a nebula in this stage of development. She's practically hovering in front of the window, arms crossed and a smile that says her mind has discarded any concerns except considering the mysteries of how the universe works. That line of thinking is just the sort to get her to relax, more than anything.

Oh, yes. Getting home can wait if it means getting to see sights like this. And if someone else stops to linger, she'll spare them a glance, and tilt her head toward the scene outside.]

7) Explosions in the past!

[ It isn't that Martin doesn't care about the facts. As a mage and a dragon—his hoarding tendencies manifested as the hoarding of knowledge, not riches—the science behind space fascinates him, but the terminology, the physics and the chemistry, are still beyond his understanding. For the first time in a long time, he feels like the dumbest person in the realm, a humbling experience good to commit to memory for a creature as proud as a dragon.

Not that he's giving much thought to his nature at the moment.

Among the stars, the colors so vibrant, so powerful his skin tingles, Martin feels small, a child lost at a market. But, just like a child, he focuses on the possibilities, not the uncertainly coiling in his chest, imagination running carefree, nose pressed against the window as he watches the nebula pass by.

For over an hour. ]
Praise be Akatosh and the Nine Divines... [ He whispers reverently, teary-eyed.

Kaname Chidori Σ Full Metal Panic!

[personal profile] pivotpoint 2014-01-17 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
7
[We have no way of sending you back just yet, but when we do you're free to go. That scared her. She was here alone, with no way to call her sister, and especially paranoid after the offer - no, threat? That Leonard had given her. It was kind of silly to be paranoid, she thought to herself. Kaname, you aren't even on your planet anymore. Why would there need to be any worry about Amalgam? If I could make it here, so could they. She laughs at herself, and rubs the tears from her eyes. She hasn't seen anyone from her world. She was being stupid and self centered. Kaname nods, silently agreeing with herself, and turns her attention to the remnants of a dead star. It was so much prettier than the pictures in text books. She whispers this to herself:]
I wonder, were you this pretty when you were alive?

9
Get back here, asshole!
[Kaname had been in the market to trade in her cellphone that came with her (old phone that could barely even take low res pictures), but had no charger. Hopefully she could pawn it off to some jerk and get some credit towards something more high functioning. However as she started chatting up a store owner some d-bag wrestled her purse away from her. Kaname was athletic, and spirited, so her first instinct was to chase the criminal down and serve her own brand of justice. She sprints after him, and eventually jumps into a flying kick that lands on his back successfully taking him down.
However when it comes to her temper Kaname really isn't one for holding back, so as soon as the robber is face flat on the ground she starts stomping on his back mercilessly shouting insults. Maybe someone should reign her in?]

[ Recording the event is both an exercise in database management and a quantifiable and documentable approach to interaction. At present, nine runtimes are devoting their processing power to cycling through and labeling those wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum visible to humans and to a shortlist of species with similar standards of visible light. Three runtimes are referencing archived data on explosive pyrotechnic techniques, from the traditional exothermic chemical devices to the modern, popular, and safety-conscious holographic reconstructions.

If asked at a later date, they would be capable of repeating what the most aesthetically pleasing colors of the display had been and the most probable means by which they had been produced.

They had chosen not to attend the actual sporting event, mindful of the comfort and sense of relative normalcy to which most organics attributed such social gatherings. They had instead elected to view the scheduled display from within the metropolis itself, selecting an optimal location on one of the top-level walkways that joined buildings adjacent the Colosseum.

They had made a point to stay off the main thoroughfare; a position to the side, with an arm rested on the railing, was the least intrusive and least threatening.

In this way, they were "just watching the fireworks." ]

We are prepared to offer assistance.

[ The first half hour following the initial explosion - one that had possessed sufficient force to alter the asteroid's orientation by 0.000000135 degrees - had consisted of a cessation of all extraction operations and a flurry of sensor scans of every type the small operation could produce. The mining team consisted of only the bare minimum of individuals required to extract the relatively sparse resources the planetoid had to offer: two five man excavation teams, three security personnel, one pilot, one low-ranked engineering officer as the head of operations, and one piece of heavy equipment.

When the first excavation team, on-site at the time of the explosion, did not establish radio contact with base camp after 45 minutes, the heavy equipment had moved from its makeshift docking station to address the gathered personnel.

In comparison to the note of tension and panic that has begun to resonate among the crew, its voice is quite calm. ]

We may require a weapon, though at this time we lack sufficient data to extrapolate the severity of the threat, if there is one.

[Space bandits huh? Seemed odd to suddenly attack, but the defense force seemed to be in need of help. Luckily, there was one pilot already heading out in a rather large mobile suit: the Gundam ZZ! Good thing they allowed him the extra armor on this thing.]

Time to save the day and make some money! This is Judau Ashta, Double-Zeta, launching!

[Of course he didn't plan on killing the pilots if he could. Still, all that scrap metal would go to waste in space if he didn't collect it. And as it stood right now, if there's a way to get back home, maybe some money could help. If not, maybe he could come across someone.

For now, the rather bulky Gundam is out within space, firing off a barrage of blasts from the beam cannon. They didn't seem so skilled, so he was cocky. He may not have liked war, but the chance at saving people? Being depressed didn't go so well when he fought once. Had to have some confidence to be at his best.]

[Rather than fighting, this was a rather boring job. Boring was good though; no people dying. Of course, this led Judau to sleep on the job. In his cockpit, he was snoring up a storm, easily settled into his chair as he snoozed away. He could always sense when an enemy was going to attack anyway, and his alarm was set too.

Still, he was slacking off on the job. Wake him up?]

Oh come on! That scrap metal is easily worth more than that!

[Don't mind Judau here. Just arguing with a vendor here regarding the material he managed to haul back. Was not easy without a ship of his own. No telling how much that cost. The vendor wasn't budging though on Judau's high offers for the metal he brought in though.]

Oh come on! Next thing you're gonna tell me is that bandit attacks like that are too common! With this much stuff, you could build a ZAKU out of it!

She's transfixed, eyes wide as she watches from the windows. It's not the first battle she's seen, although she's been trying to pretend everything is okay. This isn't the Archangel, the enemies here aren't Coordinators, but the battle looks the same, ships firing on each other and Fllay is all but plastered to the window.

Even though she wants to walk away, there's something that keeps her there and she doesn't even realize space has changed. The explosions are closer now and when a smaller ship explodes, the memories take over.

And she's back on the Archangel, struggling to get free, hands reaching for the now disintegrated ship that had held her father, her mouth open on a scream that she didn't even realize was coming from her.

(Open to other scenarios as well, this just lent itself to an idea I wanted to pursue)

[ Mordin looks up from the lab desk as the ship flies through the nebula. Frowning, he stands and walks to the observatory window, tapping a finger to his mouth. ]

Colors distracting. Appear brighter in peripheral vision. Potentially hazardous with current study of sensitive materials. Precursor to laboratory misfortune. Important to indulge momentary curiosity to avoid long-term disfigurement.

[ He stares. The lights move in slow swirls, soft pink in color. The frown eases off his face ]

Reminiscent of...seashells. Soft-coral Gorgonians. [ He takes a deep breath through his nostrils, closing his eyes and clasping his hands behind his back. ] External visual stimuli an unexpected comfort--stars finite. [ he opens his eyes and smiles ] And metamorphic in final stages. Promoting the birth of a new star. Intriguing.

[ Mordin stares out the observatory window ]

An acceptable outlet for distraction. Temporarily. Healthy, for morale.

Will contemplate potential disfigurement later.
