Test Drive Meme

Did you want to test your characters? Do you want something that you can use for an RP sample without digging up an old thread? Well, here you have it. Pick one or multiple prompts below or, if you want, make a prompt of your own. Just be sure to tag around so that everyone gets plenty of exposure.

1: Explosions in space! Space Bandits attacked the space colony everyone was visiting! Dozens of fighters and mobile armors fly through space, locked in deadly combat. Are you among those battling to save lives? Or are you watching from the windows, praying everything will be safe?

2: Explosions underground! You were part of a trading party, exchanging supplies with an underground penal colony when alien animals burrowed through the walls and started assaulting convict and Confederation member alike! What are you going to do?

3: Explosions over the city! The Colosseum is shooting off fireworks as part of a concert or a sporting event! Are you watching in the crowd, a main attraction, or watching the bright colors from the city?

4: Explosions on an asteroid! You're either observing, guarding, or mining an asteroid! It's rather dull, save for the explosions that rock the ground under your feet. It looks like it'll continue to be just as slow, but... was that something moving in the shadows there?

5: Explosions on a space station! As you approached a research station, you receive a distress signal! Fire's broken out and their systems aren't up to spec! Can you do anything? Are you a part of a scouting crew or out for a joyride in your new yacht? And is this an accident, or something more sinister?

6: Explosions at the gym! Explosive competition! Swimming, weightlifting, running, boxing, someone has just challenged you! Whether they know it or not, you're going to do your best to show them up.

7: Explosions in the past! A star has died! The Fleet is flying through the nebula it left behind, with swirls of beauty as far as the eye can see. If you're the type, you can watch it all you like.

8: Explosions on the road! Most of the traffic on the Teuberg is computer controlled, but some young showoff took his off the grid and promptly caused a wreck! Traffic has been backed up for almost half an hour now, with no way out for you and the people in your vehicle. Are you close enough to see if anyone needs help? Or are you just stuck with people who are as late for their appointments as you are?

9: Explosions in the marketplace! Explosive bargains! You're in a trading hub, surrounded by stalls of all kinds selling every type of merchandise you can imagine! Luckily, you've got enough money to handle a few purchases here. Will you buy one of those daggers on display? An incense burner? Some alien fruit? Or maybe you're on the run from the corrupt guards? Or perhaps you're the one doing the chasing, did someone just steal your wallet?

10: Explosions in your mind! The explosive inspiration that drives this world! Make up your own prompt!

Tash Arranda | Star Wars Expanded Universe

[personal profile] alderaanda 2014-01-17 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Explosions on an asteroid! Tash takes her Starfly, a bright yellow starship barely larger than a pickup truck, around and over the asteroid's cratered surface, counting the markerposts and suited personnel. At fourteen she's too young to be assigned difficult work but is allowed to survey and observe. Which is boring. Sighing, she activates the comm.]

Nothing out of the ordinary yet. Over.

[10 is also open.]

[Lal'C is flying along in Dix-Neuf, her Buster Machine. while it is considerably larger then a truck, its pilot is also of a similar age, and is thus tasked with flying out to examine some of the other asteroids under observation. she sighs to herself in her cockpit before toggling her radio on.]

Rodger that. Not seeing anything moving here, either. Over.

[Tash has been out here for long enough to grow impatient.]

I don't think there's even anything out here. This is busywork to get the kids out of the way.
starlarking: (I'll arrest his ass TOO.)

[Lal'C is also getting pretty impatient, as the increasing sharpness in her tone is probably doing a good job of indicating.

there's something, very small, moving in the corner of her display -- of course, considering that the HUD takes up considerable space, Lal'C hasn't noticed it yet, as she's concentrating on matching her patrol path to the projected one, in a slightly passive aggressive manner.
]

I guess since we're too young to be real pilots, it's better to have us doing the safe trips.
alderaanda: (Oh I come by it honestly)

[Most of the time Tash feels like she has to side with the grown-ups when kids complain about them. It only goes so far though.]

I know why they'd feel protective. And this is at least flying, and it could be important...

...it's just not, ninety-nine percent of the time.

[SIGH. Tash goes and does a barrel roll in her very agile Starfly. With the asteroid's gravity being so weak that's not as dramatic-feeling as it could be. She then surveys her sensors.]

-oh, huh. You got a blip in quadrant eight?
starlarking: (Damn it. It's not the tick.)

[Lar'C tends to be stoic about adults treating her funny because of her age, but her patience with it is worn thinner when it intersects with bureaucratic nonsense. Rather like the kind that comes along with being assigned a milk run out in the back end of nowhere "for her own good". She sighs to herself again, nodding along with Tash's assessment --if both of their HUDs have video popups they might be able to see each other? --as she fiddles with her display, magnifying the quadrant on one side of her HUD. nothing, nothing, noth -- wait, what was that? too big to be nothing, but it's not moving fast enough to trigger her alarms. . . Yet.]

Seeing a edge of something moving slow out there in Sector 8. It's not showing up too clearly here. Thinking about going in for a closer look. Over.

[The camera on Tash is set inside the helmet of her space suit. The Starfly doesn't have its own climate control.

Tash knows enough kids to understand why adults don't generally want them to have too much freedom or power. Her personal record of performance under fire is great and her legal guardian back home is aware of it... here, though, she's just a kid with a bunch of stories.]

I won't stop you. Following on your six, over.

[despite trying to stay largely out of political spacepoltik, Lar'C has some pointed ideas about her own agency after dealing with teenagers versus adults sharing the authority of protecting space.

but--in the here and now, Lal'C nods, leaning forward as she begins to make the course corrections to get closer.
]

Going in in 3, 2, 1....

[Lal'C leans on the throttle as there's another movement. this time, there's a definite blip in that sector as she goes in, but it's followed up by another, quickly, about 100 meters distant. almost like whatever there is, there's maybe more then one of them.]
alderaanda: (The very iron in my blood)

[Tash follows. Not directly behind the Dix-Neuf, no, and at a wary distance. The Starfly is armed, but lightly. One moderate blaster and a tractor beam. It's not intended for combat.]

Bogeys.

Pretty sure stopping to radio back would mean they move off before anyone gets there. [translation: let's not just back away as ordered to let someone else handle it.] I'll comm a message back, but I'll stay with you.
