Did you want to test your characters? Do you want something that you can use for an RP sample without digging up an old thread? Well, here you have it. Pick one or multiple prompts below or, if you want, make a prompt of your own. Just be sure to tag around so that everyone gets plenty of exposure.
1: Explosions in space! Space Bandits attacked the space colony everyone was visiting! Dozens of fighters and mobile armors fly through space, locked in deadly combat. Are you among those battling to save lives? Or are you watching from the windows, praying everything will be safe?
2: Explosions underground! You were part of a trading party, exchanging supplies with an underground penal colony when alien animals burrowed through the walls and started assaulting convict and Confederation member alike! What are you going to do?
3: Explosions over the city! The Colosseum is shooting off fireworks as part of a concert or a sporting event! Are you watching in the crowd, a main attraction, or watching the bright colors from the city?
4: Explosions on an asteroid! You're either observing, guarding, or mining an asteroid! It's rather dull, save for the explosions that rock the ground under your feet. It looks like it'll continue to be just as slow, but... was that something moving in the shadows there?
5: Explosions on a space station! As you approached a research station, you receive a distress signal! Fire's broken out and their systems aren't up to spec! Can you do anything? Are you a part of a scouting crew or out for a joyride in your new yacht? And is this an accident, or something more sinister?
6: Explosions at the gym! Explosive competition! Swimming, weightlifting, running, boxing, someone has just challenged you! Whether they know it or not, you're going to do your best to show them up.
7: Explosions in the past! A star has died! The Fleet is flying through the nebula it left behind, with swirls of beauty as far as the eye can see. If you're the type, you can watch it all you like.
8: Explosions on the road! Most of the traffic on the Teuberg is computer controlled, but some young showoff took his off the grid and promptly caused a wreck! Traffic has been backed up for almost half an hour now, with no way out for you and the people in your vehicle. Are you close enough to see if anyone needs help? Or are you just stuck with people who are as late for their appointments as you are?
9: Explosions in the marketplace! Explosive bargains! You're in a trading hub, surrounded by stalls of all kinds selling every type of merchandise you can imagine! Luckily, you've got enough money to handle a few purchases here. Will you buy one of those daggers on display? An incense burner? Some alien fruit? Or maybe you're on the run from the corrupt guards? Or perhaps you're the one doing the chasing, did someone just steal your wallet?
10: Explosions in your mind! The explosive inspiration that drives this world! Make up your own prompt!

Geordi La Forge | Star Trek TNG
Still, it's that equipment that has drawn Geordi's attention, rather than the injured still being shepherded off to have their burns treated. He's crouched down near the remains of one of the consoles, examining the charred and melted remains with a frown on his face. From the way he's hovering over it, he might just touch it the moment it's cool enough to handle, but for now, he glances around and calls out to the nearest person.]
Come take a look at this.
Re: Geordi La Forge | Star Trek TNG
[Nagate approached and crouched down himself, imitating Geordi. Unfortunately, though he was pretty good at jury-rigging electrical systems, he wasn't actually a trained engineer. Whatever it was Geordi was seeing, he wasn't.]
What are we looking at?
no subject
Well, to tell you the truth, it might just be nothing. But...
[He shakes his head, and looks over the console again.]
You know much about electrical fires?
no subject
Yeah, a little bit. We had to be careful of them back on the Cydonia. But that was mostly because of old, outdated equipment.
You think that's what happened here?

So when he hears someone call to him he ambles over, standing above both him and the wrecked equipment.
He's here to help! Just...not very talkative. Shoot.]

He gestures to the back of the console, where there's an access panel.]
I'll need to get in here, to check how much of the station's systems are working, but it looks like the fire managed to weld this thing shut. Think you could give me a hand?
no subject
With enough force, the panel starts to dislodge and after several seconds extra of effort, so too does the whole panel come loose from the console. If the metal's still hot in any way, he doesn't seem all that bothered by it, instead simply stepping back, discarding the panel to the floor and turning his gaze to Geordi, nodding towards the machinery.
All yours.]

Eh?
[ Yes, you've caught him with his left eye in his hand, Geordi. Fortunately, via some sort of future bluetooth-ish connection, he can still see through it, therefore the obvious thing is to reach down with his hand and use it to peer at whatever Geordi's pointing to. ]
What is it?
pffha no this is lovely
Didn't mean to bother you in the middle of anything, [Like dealing with an eyeball,] but what's the extent of wavelengths you can get with that?

( he'd not — realized what a danger fire can still be in space. the tang of smoky air is something he's a little too used to breathing in, it seems, or maybe it's just memorable from the few instances he's had to. it'd been a dire reminder of how very much confined they are in some ways, even with the freedom to hurtle through space, and he's glad for the distraction even if he may prove a bit useless. )

I could use a hand taking this apart. If you'd like to help, that is.

I'm sorry too.
And so he can be found standing right behind Geordi, looking rather lost with the bucket in his arms and cold water splashing onto his old fashioned dress shoes. Honestly, he would have just turned away and pretended he had never been there if Mister Break had not caused the most questionable first impression one could hope for.
One day. One day he will just pretend he doesn't know him.]
Oh good grief, my most sincere apologies, sir! Please, ignore him. He has a condition. ...Would you step aside so I can clean that up?
[It seems the bucket was not such a bad idea after all. This is going to be the cleanest work station in the whole galaxy!]
no subject
A few moments later, he gives in to the laugh threatening to come out. Unknowingly, his thoughts echo one of the sentiments of his Captain; "sometimes you must bow to the absurd." A moment later he's shaking his head, hands raised in a 'no harm done' gesture.]
No need for an apology. [Geordi finds himself stepping automatically out of the way, then reconsidering.] I don't know if this thing is worth the cleaning, though. It's beyond repair.

At Geordi's invitation, the scientist crouches down to look at the panel.]
Oh? What do you see?
[Things that Stein is obviously expecting Geordi to ignore about his physical appearance: glasses, obvious scarring from stitches across his face (matching the giant stitches across his clothing), the giant metal bolt jammed completely through his skull.
no subject
None of them are quite the same as Stein, but Geordi manages to keep his surprise under control. He doesn't even stammer when he starts to explain.]
There's something strange about the fire damage on this console.

"Its a burned out console, probably too hot to work with. Do you want me to get my piloting gloves and see if I can get into it now or are you just looking for another set of eyes on it? I'm not sure trying to directly link up with a damaged machine is a good idea though."
no subject
In other words, the other pair of eyes on it would be appreciated, and Geordi circles around to the other side of the console, examining it. "The damage on this console is a lot more extensive than any other part of the station."

There another situation?
[Her response is prompt as she heads over to see what's caught his attention. Leaning down, she settles in to get a good look at whatever seems to be the problem. Sure she's just a soldier, but she's picked up a thing or two about electronics along the way.]
I'm warning you now, I'm only a few steps above punch it until it works.
no subject
[Barely more than a heap of melted slag, he means. The problem, however, exists in a hunk of melted circuits and wires. Cautious of the heat still radiating from the inside of the console, Geordi leans forward to trace out a pathway of connections.]
If I'm any judge, this is what caused the fire. But these wires shouldn't be connected in this way at all.

It would appear as if the console melted from the inside out. Unusual in the fact that the fire appeared to originate outside of the casing. Do you have a hypothesis?
the sound I made when I saw this
How it happened is an easy question to answer. The way this thing's configured, it's sure to overload, and start and electrical fire while it happens.
Why, though... [He shrugs.] This didn't happen on accident, not unless someone had no idea what they were doing, and somehow managed to connect everything in the worst possible way.
