Did you want to test your characters? Do you want something that you can use for an RP sample without digging up an old thread? Well, here you have it. Pick one or multiple prompts below or, if you want, make a prompt of your own. Just be sure to tag around so that everyone gets plenty of exposure.
1: Explosions in space! Space Bandits attacked the space colony everyone was visiting! Dozens of fighters and mobile armors fly through space, locked in deadly combat. Are you among those battling to save lives? Or are you watching from the windows, praying everything will be safe?
2: Explosions underground! You were part of a trading party, exchanging supplies with an underground penal colony when alien animals burrowed through the walls and started assaulting convict and Confederation member alike! What are you going to do?
3: Explosions over the city! The Colosseum is shooting off fireworks as part of a concert or a sporting event! Are you watching in the crowd, a main attraction, or watching the bright colors from the city?
4: Explosions on an asteroid! You're either observing, guarding, or mining an asteroid! It's rather dull, save for the explosions that rock the ground under your feet. It looks like it'll continue to be just as slow, but... was that something moving in the shadows there?
5: Explosions on a space station! As you approached a research station, you receive a distress signal! Fire's broken out and their systems aren't up to spec! Can you do anything? Are you a part of a scouting crew or out for a joyride in your new yacht? And is this an accident, or something more sinister?
6: Explosions at the gym! Explosive competition! Swimming, weightlifting, running, boxing, someone has just challenged you! Whether they know it or not, you're going to do your best to show them up.
7: Explosions in the past! A star has died! The Fleet is flying through the nebula it left behind, with swirls of beauty as far as the eye can see. If you're the type, you can watch it all you like.
8: Explosions on the road! Most of the traffic on the Teuberg is computer controlled, but some young showoff took his off the grid and promptly caused a wreck! Traffic has been backed up for almost half an hour now, with no way out for you and the people in your vehicle. Are you close enough to see if anyone needs help? Or are you just stuck with people who are as late for their appointments as you are?
9: Explosions in the marketplace! Explosive bargains! You're in a trading hub, surrounded by stalls of all kinds selling every type of merchandise you can imagine! Luckily, you've got enough money to handle a few purchases here. Will you buy one of those daggers on display? An incense burner? Some alien fruit? Or maybe you're on the run from the corrupt guards? Or perhaps you're the one doing the chasing, did someone just steal your wallet?
10: Explosions in your mind! The explosive inspiration that drives this world! Make up your own prompt!

Yeah, a little bit. We had to be careful of them back on the Cydonia. But that was mostly because of old, outdated equipment.
You think that's what happened here?

[Geordi reached out for the panel again, only to be forced to draw back when he found it still too hot to handle.]
I'm just not sure it explains the extent of this one.
no subject
[He hesitated for a moment, then reached out for the panel.]
Here, let me get that for you.
[Nagate yanked open the panel, heedless of the subsequent burns to his hands. If there was something fishy going on around here, the least he could do was make himself useful. Besides, it didn't hurt him as much as it would most people. Still -- ]
Ow, that's pretty hot!
no subject
[Geordi's attention is fully on Nagate now. Helpful or not, Nagate just made a bit of a dumb move in Geordi's book. Even without being able to see the heat signature of the paneling, most people don't keep holding onto something burning them.]
You should probably get that looked at.
no subject
[He held up his hands, which were already starting to regenerate.
Go go questionable genetic engineering practices]I heal pretty fast, and it doesn't hurt much! Besides, you wanted to take a look, right?
no subject
Still, it's not the most polite 'getting to know you' question, so Geordi brushes it off with a shrug. He did want to get a look at the components of the console, that was definitely true. So he leans back toward the console, taking a look at the various wires and circuits arrayed inside.]
Phew, this is a mess.
no subject
His gaze caught on part of the charred circuitry innards: a small section of metal that didn't quite match the layout of the rest of the circuits.]
Hey, what's that thing?
no subject
I have no idea yet.
[He adjusted the side of his VISOR, wholly focused on that little clue being presented to him.]
But if we can figure that out, I'm sure we'll get some answers. The fire might have done something here, but it's better than a melted puddle.
no subject
Yeah, I guess you're right. I just hope that this really was an accident. Do you know what they're researching here?
no subject
[What Geordi wouldn't give to have a nice, familiar tricorder right now. Instead, he reaches for the Confederacy-style omnicorder, pushing buttons as he gets the settings adjusted for what he wants to do.
That done, he holds the device toward Nagate.]
Can you reach in there and get some readings of it on this?
no subject
Hmm... I don't know if this is normal, but I'm getting some low-level tachyon readings. It doesn't look like it's coming from in here, though. Maybe it's some kind of residue?
no subject
[Geordi leans over to look at the screen now. By this point, there's a definite frown on his face.]
It might be that there's a natural concentration in this area, but in my experience, tachyons are produced by cloaking technology. We could find out using the ship's sensors or the station's. [In the meantime, it feels like they're opening up a can of worms.] What about that metal? For a circuit like this, we should be seeing things like copper and platinum.
no subject
But aren't those all the kind of stuff you'd expect to find in a console like this?
[Nagate handed Geordi back the omnicorder; maybe he'd be able to make more sense of the readings.]
We never had anything like cloaking technology back on the Cydonia. It sounds like it would've been really useful, though.
no subject
[Geordi starts looking over the omnicorder again, nodding at the readings. Exactly the kind of things he's expecting to find. As he examines them, he goes back to the topic of cloaking technology.]
Starfleet doesn't have that technology, either, but we've run into some who do, like the Romulans.
no subject
Oh, I see. So in other words, a cloaking device isn't the kind of thing that you'd expect to find lying around a research station, right?
Could it be used to hide something small... a device or a person? Or it it mostly for ships?
no subject
The technology's been refined over the years, but I've only ever seen it used to cloak ships. There are holograms that could be used to disguise things, but I haven't seen any sign of a holodeck since I got here, and a holodeck doesn't emit tachyons, either.
We've got a real mystery on our hands here.
no subject
Hmm. Okay, then how about this? I think there are still a couple of eyewitnesses in the area. Why don't I go and ask around, find out if they've seen anything unusual? I can meet you back here.
no subject
[He's already turned halfway toward the panel again, omnicorder at the ready.]
