Did you want to test your characters? Do you want something that you can use for an RP sample without digging up an old thread? Well, here you have it. Pick one or multiple prompts below or, if you want, make a prompt of your own. Just be sure to tag around so that everyone gets plenty of exposure.
1: Explosions in space! Space Bandits attacked the space colony everyone was visiting! Dozens of fighters and mobile armors fly through space, locked in deadly combat. Are you among those battling to save lives? Or are you watching from the windows, praying everything will be safe?
2: Explosions underground! You were part of a trading party, exchanging supplies with an underground penal colony when alien animals burrowed through the walls and started assaulting convict and Confederation member alike! What are you going to do?
3: Explosions over the city! The Colosseum is shooting off fireworks as part of a concert or a sporting event! Are you watching in the crowd, a main attraction, or watching the bright colors from the city?
4: Explosions on an asteroid! You're either observing, guarding, or mining an asteroid! It's rather dull, save for the explosions that rock the ground under your feet. It looks like it'll continue to be just as slow, but... was that something moving in the shadows there?
5: Explosions on a space station! As you approached a research station, you receive a distress signal! Fire's broken out and their systems aren't up to spec! Can you do anything? Are you a part of a scouting crew or out for a joyride in your new yacht? And is this an accident, or something more sinister?
6: Explosions at the gym! Explosive competition! Swimming, weightlifting, running, boxing, someone has just challenged you! Whether they know it or not, you're going to do your best to show them up.
7: Explosions in the past! A star has died! The Fleet is flying through the nebula it left behind, with swirls of beauty as far as the eye can see. If you're the type, you can watch it all you like.
8: Explosions on the road! Most of the traffic on the Teuberg is computer controlled, but some young showoff took his off the grid and promptly caused a wreck! Traffic has been backed up for almost half an hour now, with no way out for you and the people in your vehicle. Are you close enough to see if anyone needs help? Or are you just stuck with people who are as late for their appointments as you are?
9: Explosions in the marketplace! Explosive bargains! You're in a trading hub, surrounded by stalls of all kinds selling every type of merchandise you can imagine! Luckily, you've got enough money to handle a few purchases here. Will you buy one of those daggers on display? An incense burner? Some alien fruit? Or maybe you're on the run from the corrupt guards? Or perhaps you're the one doing the chasing, did someone just steal your wallet?
10: Explosions in your mind! The explosive inspiration that drives this world! Make up your own prompt!

7: the view outside is — something he's got complex feelings about, in all honesty. it reminds him of memories as dark as the space through which they travel, but then things like this happen: brightness and beauty in the unexpected. if he normally treats the view outside as something that might scald him, there's an almost grudging fascination now, all big round eyes and surprised intake of breath as he lingers to watch.
9: oz has always got a bit excitable about money, you see; he's a child of nobility and has rarely had to concern himself with something like money. so it's something of an exciting experience, still fairly novel in its own ways, and the wide-eyed, absolutely delighted look he gives everything (and everyone) in the market place is probably a giveaway. you may run into him standing and staring at something, heedless of foot traffic, or you may almost step on him — easy mistake to make, he's small and easy to miss. or perhaps you'd like to let him know he's about to be ripped off on that curious-looking alien fruit he's examining? feel free to roll your eyes at his bright and ridiculous attempts at flirting with some of the female locals. )
9!
Almost ready to go back to the meager living conditions that make up the newcomer’s housing units, Meetra examines the food laid out around the stalls. She can’t help but notice a young blonde man speaking with a merchant over a foreign-looking fruit. And she becomes utterly flabbergasted at what she at least thinks she overheard. Either he is just getting ripped off or fresh produce is obscenely expensive in these parts. ]
Did he just ask you for three credits just for the one piece of fruit? [ Meanwhile, the merchant shoots a glare in her direction. ]
no subject
That's right! ( he offers her a smile, holding up a piece of that fruit. ) He, ( with a gesture at the merchant, ) said it's a big blowout sale and a great deal! Usually it's six credits, if you're unlucky.
( #it becomes obvious immediately how he's so easily cheated )
9 uhuhu
Are you shopping for dinner?
no subject
I am! What do you think about this?
( he'd try to say the name of the fruit, but he'd mispronounce it horribly )

It's a far cry from the moon, hm?
[ Being able to see once more, as well as the ready availability of fabricated consumer goods, has unleashed Break's dandyish tendencies in full force: white gloves, ruffled lace sleeves, purple frock coat, top hat, and ribbons everywhere. It's all in violent contrast to what they'd experienced half a galaxy away: a continual state of struggle and want. The only carry-over from those days is the scarf knotted loosely about his shoulders, trimmed with white feathers that never seem to go dirty or dull. ]

says, ) It's much prettier, don't you think?
( with a smile he might even mean, because it is true. )
no subject
Haha! Some things don't change. Your being a little brat, for instance.
[ He punctuates this with a head ruffle that's harder than absolutely necessary. He wonders, in the space of the gesture, how long he'll be able to do that. The man Oz will grow into is taller than he, after all. Drat these kids. ]

Rena's not immune to the wonder, either; it's not her first trip through space, in all its surprises (bright and dark alike), but this vista is as new to her as it is to Oz. It looks, she thinks, like the milk-glow of the deep oceans at night, or the swirls of some cosmic brush, dipped in stardust; certainly the latter would be just as mesmerizing.
The gasp from somewhere beside her interrupts her thoughts, and she glances at the source with a smile. ]
It's really amazing, isn't it?

I've never seen anything like this before! I should look for books about astronomy while we're here.

Have you been to the Renaissance Center? They say there's a huge library in one of the three main buildings.

7 - your username makes me really happy. c:
For the most part, he has simply lingered and ignored those passing by, but the gasp nearby is enough for him to tear his eyes away, meaning only to glance - but no, the familiarity of the boy holds his attention, and almost without realizing it, Glen openly stares at Oz. The boy's appearance and something about the air around him is disturbingly familiar.
Glen's stare can at times be pretty intense even when he's not murderously angry, so poor Oz might very well get that feeling of eyes boring into the back of his head. ]
oh my goodness same with yours!
— oh.
( hadn't expected to see glen baskerville of all people when he turned. )

And yet... He stares another moment or two - longer than is strictly necessary or polite, but perhaps Oz will forgive him for being a little spacey. ]
Forgive me but... are you a member of the Vessalius House?

Why are you standing in the middle of everything and gawking, Shorty?! Do you even care that it's going to cause problems?!
no subject
Because there's so much to see! It's great, don't you think?

IT'S MORE IMPORTANT THAT YOU SEE THE PEOPLE TRYING TO MOVE AROUND! I'm not saying it's not interesting, but you have to be responsible for yourself!

Alien fruit, though???? Exotic!!]
Excuse me, excuse me! I'm sorry, what is that you're holding? Is it for eating? It's so colorful! [Lizzie herself has a basket full of bread and, adventurously, a few odd vegetables. No meat, she's still too wary to try any of that. Besides, she doesn't at all know how to put together a meal on her own.]
omg
especially such a cute one.
so he grins immediately at her questions, turning away somewhat from the vender to hold it closer towards her, all the easier to see. )
It's a fruit! The name was — ( he glances back at the stall, and the man obliges, providing the curious and foreign name ) — that! It looks delicious, right?

It has been a long time since he has last watched such a monumental death this close. And yet it has already happened ages ago. There is something terribly desolating about it. Ephemerality, is the word that comes to his mind. But if that is so, what about the child standing just beside him? Less than a speck of dust, and yet invaluable exactly because of that. Not a few months ago, he had been consoling this child's servant, rendered completely paralyzed by his unannounced departure, a grief he knows too well.
He tentatively touches the boy's golden hair, so similar to his own young master's. He hopes and prays that they will have the chance to meet again before time claims them as well, as time inevitably does.]
Rather impressive, isn't it?
