Test Drive Meme

Did you want to test your characters? Do you want something that you can use for an RP sample without digging up an old thread? Well, here you have it. Pick one or multiple prompts below or, if you want, make a prompt of your own. Just be sure to tag around so that everyone gets plenty of exposure.

1: Explosions in space! Space Bandits attacked the space colony everyone was visiting! Dozens of fighters and mobile armors fly through space, locked in deadly combat. Are you among those battling to save lives? Or are you watching from the windows, praying everything will be safe?

2: Explosions underground! You were part of a trading party, exchanging supplies with an underground penal colony when alien animals burrowed through the walls and started assaulting convict and Confederation member alike! What are you going to do?

3: Explosions over the city! The Colosseum is shooting off fireworks as part of a concert or a sporting event! Are you watching in the crowd, a main attraction, or watching the bright colors from the city?

4: Explosions on an asteroid! You're either observing, guarding, or mining an asteroid! It's rather dull, save for the explosions that rock the ground under your feet. It looks like it'll continue to be just as slow, but... was that something moving in the shadows there?

5: Explosions on a space station! As you approached a research station, you receive a distress signal! Fire's broken out and their systems aren't up to spec! Can you do anything? Are you a part of a scouting crew or out for a joyride in your new yacht? And is this an accident, or something more sinister?

6: Explosions at the gym! Explosive competition! Swimming, weightlifting, running, boxing, someone has just challenged you! Whether they know it or not, you're going to do your best to show them up.

7: Explosions in the past! A star has died! The Fleet is flying through the nebula it left behind, with swirls of beauty as far as the eye can see. If you're the type, you can watch it all you like.

8: Explosions on the road! Most of the traffic on the Teuberg is computer controlled, but some young showoff took his off the grid and promptly caused a wreck! Traffic has been backed up for almost half an hour now, with no way out for you and the people in your vehicle. Are you close enough to see if anyone needs help? Or are you just stuck with people who are as late for their appointments as you are?

9: Explosions in the marketplace! Explosive bargains! You're in a trading hub, surrounded by stalls of all kinds selling every type of merchandise you can imagine! Luckily, you've got enough money to handle a few purchases here. Will you buy one of those daggers on display? An incense burner? Some alien fruit? Or maybe you're on the run from the corrupt guards? Or perhaps you're the one doing the chasing, did someone just steal your wallet?

10: Explosions in your mind! The explosive inspiration that drives this world! Make up your own prompt!

Expecting this to be a simple piece of diplomacy, the enigmatic and usually silently old man known only as 'The Preacher' had unexpectedly volunteered for the mission. He had thought that having someone who could call upon Voice might defuse difficult situations.

More fool him. Being blind, he felt but did not see the young princess of Zeon grab him by the arm. From emperor of the known universe to being led to safety by a girl younger than his own daughter. How built on sand all our castles are.

"Thank you." He said in a raspy voice and followed as fast as he could, walking stick clacking on the stone floor.

I just want you to know what a big Dune fan I am. *w*

"It's alright," the teenager replied in kind. She didn't offer a smile back, though the emotion was likely clearly felt. It wasn't as if in times of fear or strife a Newtype could do much to control themselves. Not one as inexperienced as Mineva.

She had taken the time to half-memorize the route in, old fears of capture still too prevalent and real. She had to know where she was, the quickest ways both in and out, everything.

It's only when they've put some distance behind them thanks in part to the few soldiers they had brought that Mineva paused to catch her breath. She turned a glance to the man, "I didn't go too fast, did I?"

And I'm a big Gundam fan (in the middle of ZZ right now).

If anything slowed them down, it was The Preacher's habitually rythmless gait, coming from decades walking the sands. He did not appear out of breath though and followed the route as well. Sietch living taught you to always memorize your turns.

"I am used to life in the desert, child. I can keep up." He didn't mean to sound patronizing. It was just that she was younger than Ghanima and thus he felt the senior citizen's prerogative to talk as if she were clueless about most things. "Are you alright?" Something of her fear had leaked through his keen senses. Blind as he was, he had not forgotten any of his Bene Gesserit training.

I need to watch ZZ. It's soooo long though, haha.

If Mineva takes offense to the way he's talked to her, she doesn't seem to show it. When on is surrounded by adults their whole lives, they tend not to take much offense at adult speech. Or Mineva didn't.

"I'm fine. We should be topside soon. I'm sure the ship is still waiting."

And it has mood whiplash in the middle. Zeta remains grimdark throughout though.

"I owe you a water-debt." The old man smiles, an expression that he has clearly not used for some time. "It is quite embarrassing. Once, I was a leader of men in battle and would have been the one fighting those things off."
searchforpeace: ([45] Take my faith in your hands)

That's what I've heard! I'd watch the movies but they change the plot in those, yes?

"The mighty fall every day and become the stories of old men."

After a moment, Mineva looks back at the older man with just a faint flush rising. "Forgive me, I didn't mean that in any disparaging sense. It's the nature of politics unfortunately."

They end on a cheerier note. I liked 08th MS Team best.

The Preacher chuckled despite himself, no mean feat when you had his extensive Prana Bindu training. What a charming, honest child. Politics would do a number on her, he was sure.

"Do not apologize for telling the truth, child. My homeworld has seen that cycle happen twice in the last thirty years."

I vaguely remembering liked 08th MS. It's been so long.

"That's a rather short amount of time."

Not that her own didn't have a similar short span. After all, she was only a baby during the One Year War and now everything was falling apart again.

[I wonder if she'll be afflicted by the Gundam character blindness that makes you unable to recognize a famous person in very flimsy disguise]

"When politics and religion ride in the same cart, the whirlwind follows. Do you not think so?"

A grave warning from the old man as the shuttle doors closed around them. At least this unfortunate screwup had given him the opportunity to lecture educate a young noble about the perils of power.
