Did you want to test your characters? Do you want something that you can use for an RP sample without digging up an old thread? Well, here you have it. Pick one or multiple prompts below or, if you want, make a prompt of your own. Just be sure to tag around so that everyone gets plenty of exposure.

1: Explosions in space! Space Bandits attacked the space colony everyone was visiting! Dozens of fighters and mobile armors fly through space, locked in deadly combat. Are you among those battling to save lives? Or are you watching from the windows, praying everything will be safe?

2: Explosions underground! You were part of a trading party, exchanging supplies with an underground penal colony when alien animals burrowed through the walls and started assaulting convict and Confederation member alike! What are you going to do?

3: Explosions over the city! The Colosseum is shooting off fireworks as part of a concert or a sporting event! Are you watching in the crowd, a main attraction, or watching the bright colors from the city?

4: Explosions on an asteroid! You're either observing, guarding, or mining an asteroid! It's rather dull, save for the explosions that rock the ground under your feet. It looks like it'll continue to be just as slow, but... was that something moving in the shadows there?

5: Explosions on a space station! As you approached a research station, you receive a distress signal! Fire's broken out and their systems aren't up to spec! Can you do anything? Are you a part of a scouting crew or out for a joyride in your new yacht? And is this an accident, or something more sinister?

6: Explosions at the gym! Explosive competition! Swimming, weightlifting, running, boxing, someone has just challenged you! Whether they know it or not, you're going to do your best to show them up.

7: Explosions in the past! A star has died! The Fleet is flying through the nebula it left behind, with swirls of beauty as far as the eye can see. If you're the type, you can watch it all you like.

8: Explosions on the road! Most of the traffic on the Teuberg is computer controlled, but some young showoff took his off the grid and promptly caused a wreck! Traffic has been backed up for almost half an hour now, with no way out for you and the people in your vehicle. Are you close enough to see if anyone needs help? Or are you just stuck with people who are as late for their appointments as you are?

9: Explosions in the marketplace! Explosive bargains! You're in a trading hub, surrounded by stalls of all kinds selling every type of merchandise you can imagine! Luckily, you've got enough money to handle a few purchases here. Will you buy one of those daggers on display? An incense burner? Some alien fruit? Or maybe you're on the run from the corrupt guards? Or perhaps you're the one doing the chasing, did someone just steal your wallet?

10: Explosions in your mind! The explosive inspiration that drives this world! Make up your own prompt!

[Inwardly, Del flinches a little at the lecture -- not that Shepard isn't right, and she knows it, but being called out by anyone always tends to make Del just a little bit twitchy.

She doesn't give any outward sign of it, though, just turns her attention to the other woman's question. Del gestures at the Fleet-issue omnicorder clipped to her belt.]

Gave 'em a scan, came up clear. That, and it's mostly humans was frequenting the place.

Well now. This was not something that happened every day.

With a lift of both eyebrows, Obi-Wan sidesteps the charge. He makes no motion to fight or reach for his lightsaber. This one most likely means well and he doesn't want to hurt her.

"May I help you, miss?"

She charges past, rolls and kipups, "You aren't eating anyone here's blood! Someone get a shotgun!"

Still not even really looking she charges again, sadly still not seeing that he's just some guy under the robes. Currently taking stock of the situation isn't in her particular idiom.

[He had no real intention of showing off, but...right after his first punch, the punching bag hanging from the ceiling he'd struck breaks in half, spilling the contents all across the floor.

There's no sudden reaction on his part, rather he stands still staring blankly at the shredded remains of the equipment, looks down at the rest of it on the floor, then shakes his head, crouching down to start gathering the stuffing and putting as much as he can into the emptied bottom half of the bag.

It was one kind of shock to suddenly have found oneself in an utterly unfamiliar part of the universe, in an unfamiliar ship, surrounded by strange humans and unfamiliar aliens. Some things about the Confederacy were too similar- Geordi found himself constantly saying tricorder, rather than omnicorder, for example- while other things, like the size of the ships, was utterly alien to him.

In the midst of it all, he'd come to realize intellectually that it was likely to be a very long time before he would be able to contact the Federation, let alone make his way back to the decks of the Enterprise. So when he saw a face right out of his Academy history books, it took Geordi several long moments to realize that yes, the man standing by the windows and gazing out into space was indeed who he thought it was.

How did one approach a living legend? Well. Geordi started by nervously clearing his throat, and standing to attention a respectable distance away. "Ambassador Spock?"

"It is beautiful, is it not, master elf?" Boromir remarked as he stepped up next to Spock at the viewing port. He still did not understand how the people who occupied this place managed to make such large and blemishless windows, much less what was visible on the other side of them. "One of my new acquaintances tried to explain it to me, but I do not understand how a world that has lived past its time could turn into." He gestured to the port. "This. Such things are truly best left to the wise."

[Well sure her prox sensors are going off, they're constantly telling her how low the fragging ceiling is! Maybe on a better day she'd be paying attention to the directional indicators on her HUD, but given the grumbling, clearly this is not a 'better' day.

The crate in her arms shifts wildly as she tries to keep her balance and see what or who she's stepping on at the same time. Thankfully there's no squish under her footplate (please let's not have a repeat of the sentient slime mold incident from last week, the paperwork was a bitch) but the chair ends up the bodily sacrifice instead.]

...oops.

[She'd ask if he was okay but...her priorities aren't much better.]

Well what's it doing in a public space then!?

9.

There is a young, dark-skinned man standing by one of the fruit stalls, patiently examining the goods on offer with a grimace that suggests he views fresh fruit the way some people view dead voles. Nothing he sees is familiar, let alone palatable, but he is very hungry and he has money to burn, at least for now. He gingerly picks up a spiky fruit the colour of earwax and holds it up to the light.

"Good Lord," he mutters to himself and then turns to the person standing next to him and gestures with the fruit. "What do you think, dearest? Edible? Poison? Equipment for an exotic ballgame?"

His voice is alto, pleasant but heavily accented. He sounds like he grew up speaking Russian and Yiddish and tried -- unsuccessfully -- to train the accent out of his speech patterns.

He smells of expensive perfume, strongly enough that anyone within a metre radius would notice. The hand holding the offending fruit is manicured and delicate, the hand of a pianist. His other hand clutches cream kid gloves in a rather paroxysmal grip.

['Make yourself useful or we throw you out' is a pretty convincing argument.

He nodded as she spoke, muttering a quiet apology to avoid interrupting her train of thought. However, she shifts the topic of conversation back to him, making Jason feel a little awkward for not being clearer. Still, he shrugs.

I'm not really sure. I mean, I could try school, but I'd need to take some remedial classes or something. These guys are too smart for me. I'm good at sports, but not enough to go pro. [At least he's honest with himself.] Back home, I wanted to run a dojo. I even taught some martial arts classes at the juice bar, Ernie was cool enough to let me do it, but I don't know if there's really a demand for that kind of thing here.

[He shuffled around to lean against the rail, same as she was.]

I just don't know. Back home, I'd have about two or three more years of school, but at least I knew what they were teaching. [And he had Billy and Trini to help explain the things he didn't get. Man, he hoped that they were okay, wherever they were.]

[It's not taken badly at all, if Geordi's grin is any indication.]

It's a date. [And then he promptly stumbles over his tongue.] Or, not a date, but- you know. Never mind. [Commander Riker would be laughing himself to tears if he were watching. As it is, Geordi runs a hand over his face, sighs, and starts again.]

Sorry, that was a bad start. That sounds like a good compromise to me.

[Eve glances over her shoulder, taking note of the other girl, before turning her gaze back to the work at hand. Her presence is acceptable.]

It is not, although it may appear that way to someone who does not understand advanced Nasod technology. [yep, definitely sounds simple]

A chemical reaction causes the burst of coloured lights when the rocket explodes... however, with a concentrated El energy charge, Eve can do better than this. A three-dimensional image can be projected using electronballs of varying sizes and velocities fired from a spherical device.

With modifications, it could also be used as a long-range scatter type weapon... ah, but it will need a powerful charge to function... perhaps it could be optimized to reduce the energy consumption...?

[She mumbles to herself a little longer, apparently contemplating how to weaponize her laser fireworks already.]

[It probably seems like he almost isn't going to respond, considering he stays quiet but...Geordi seems friendly enough, and considering his lack of tech knowledge he could use knowing someone who knows this stuff.]

Kimahri. You are good with machines?

Boromir - LotR

[personal profile] doesnotsimply 2014-01-14 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Boromir had been going stir crazy ever since arriving in this place that he was told to call a "ship", though it sailed on no sea he could understand nor looked like any ship he had ever seen; so much so that it was almost a relief when the inhuman shriek echoed through the labyrinthine tunnels of the "ship" and a woman's dispassionate voice announced that they were under attack. Following the signposted directions to the area that he was being told the enemy had breached, and guessing from the amount of foot traffic fleeing from that direction, he headed for the battle to see what good could be done.

10. [I know Odo mun wants to thread so I thought I'd offer them carte blanche to make their own scenario ;)]

[personal profile] blindlygo 2014-01-14 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Hopefully not. That's months of effort to lose just from one single fire. There might be backups, but this could be salvageable.

[He pauses, to look back over the console again.]

I think.
blindlygo: (Default)

[personal profile] blindlygo 2014-01-14 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a big mistake to make, if it was.

[Especially since the fire got through so much of the station. He can't really comment on the analysis of the people in the station, but he does give the man a sideways look.]
edify: (use your instincts)

[personal profile] edify 2014-01-14 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed.

[The comment evokes a small smile, and Obi-Wan steps to the side to make room for anyone else wanting the perfect view.]

Have you ever been closer?

[Not that he is that foolhardy, of course, but the thought of being surrounded by stars is quite poetic.]

Upon hearing the siren and the curiously emotionless voice announcing the attack, Anzu briefly scans the scene, sees nothing flammable, turns tail and heads the way most of the crowd is heading -- away from the excitement. After about three metres, he stops, takes off the three-inch heels he's wearing and keeps running, now faster and without wobbling.

Unfortunately, he collides with Boromir. He hisses like a kettle boiling and glares up.

"Darling," he says, through clenched teeth. "Watch where you're going! You're obstructing the exits!"
blindlygo: (I got this)

[personal profile] blindlygo 2014-01-14 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Geordi's response starts with a chuckle, as he pulls the omnicorder off his belt and starts sweeping it over the interior of the cavity.]

You could say that. I've been an engineer on a starship for years.
blindlygo: (oh yeah?)

[personal profile] blindlygo 2014-01-14 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
She'd mentioned the gloves before, so Geordi doesn't automatically reach to pull her away from the hot panels. Instead, he just keeps an eye on the temperatures she's dealing with through the VISOR, and starts poking around at one of the nearby panels, muttering a little "Yes!" when one responds to his tap on the screen.

Anzu watches the old alien carefully, with some puzzlement -- why does he look so concerned, in face of such beauty? Anzu himself had been quite enchanted, for the first hour, but has now resorted to people-watching, for variety's sake.

He approaches Spock and says, quietly, "er, excuse me, dear? Are you quite all right?"

He tries to follow Spock's gaze, thinking that maybe he'd spied an enemy craft. Seeing nothing, he says, very, hesitantly, "ah, do you ... do you see ... something?"

Have Machina back home. Nothing as advanced as this.

[He watches closely, as if hoping he can pick something up from just watching.]

Much to take in.

"My apologies, good..." He eyed the strange person in front of him and decided on a pronoun. "Sir. I am headed to the battle and had lost my way in these tunnels; would you be able to point me toward where the fighting is taking place?" Boromir was itching to get to grips with something familiar, and combat was about as familiar to him as anything could be in this alien place. If only that blank faced man hadn't insisted upon him leaving his sword with their guards, but this was not his land and he could hardly have insisted upon carrying it everywhere. As things were he would have to make do with his knife until he could find better arnament.

I've been inside a nebula cloud, but I'm glad to say I still had a nice, sturdy ship around me at the time.

[He taps one hand against a nearby wall.]

I like space just fine, but I like it better when there's something nice and solid between it and me.
circumsutus: (huh that's weird)

[personal profile] circumsutus 2014-01-14 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
If I was back home I'd guess someone just dropped a cigarette. But space travel seems to have made people a bit more concerned for their lungs. [He's only a little bit bitter about losing access to one of his many bad habits.]

What do you think?

[Unfortunately the Ronso standing in front of her is close to seven feet tall, so chances are getting a good look around him is probably almost impossible.

Maybe he'll move if asked.
